Regularly cleaning the air purifier can extend the life of the filter and the machine, ensuring the air in your home is always clean and fresh. In this article, we will share with you why you need to clean your air purifier, when you need to do it, and how to do it at home.
1. Why is it necessary to clean the air purifier?
1.1. Protect health
Air purifiers help remove pollutants and dust particles from the air. However, if the purifier is not cleaned regularly, dirt can accumulate and pollute the filter membrane, reducing air filtration performance and efficiency. Cleaning your air purifier helps ensure that it functions optimally to provide fresh air for your family.
1.2. Increase filter life
When the air purifier becomes contaminated and dirt accumulates, it can cause damage and reduce its lifespan. Cleaning the purifier periodically will help protect and prolong the life of the air purifier, saving maintenance and repair costs in the future.
2. When to clean the air purifier
The time it takes to clean an air purifier at home depends on the air quality and usage level of the machine. To maintain the performance and health of the air purifier, a reasonable cleaning frequency is about every 1 to 2 months. During this period, you should clean the machine to remove accumulated dust and ensure the machine operates in the best condition. Following a cleaning schedule will help your air purifier operate effectively and maintain your home’s air quality.
3. 5 steps to clean the air purifier
Step 1: Disconnect the power source to ensure safety
Before starting the cleaning process, make sure that the air purifier is completely turned off. Then, remove the air purifier from the installation location to facilitate the cleaning process.
Step 2: Classify the parts
Divide into 2 groups: one group can use water for cleaning as a rough filter. The remaining group uses a vacuum cleaner, brush or soft towel to clean such as activated carbon filter, HEPA filter, and machine case.
Step 3: Clean the air purifier
For the case, use a soft, damp cloth to wipe, especially in areas where the air intake slots need to be cleaned thoroughly. For stubborn stains, use warm water mixed with a small amount of soap to wash. Be careful not to let water seep inside the machine.
In the coarse filter membrane part, use water to clean the membrane.
Use a vacuum cleaner and bristle brush to clean the activated carbon filter and HEPA filter. Be careful not to use water to clean the filter.
Step 4: Clean the sensor
You should use a cotton swab or soft cloth to clean the sensor locations so that the device operates most accurately and effectively
Step 5: Wait for the parts to dry and assemble in order
Make sure the parts are dry, then assemble in order. After completing the assembly, you can initiate the machine by holding down the reset button for about 3 seconds to reset the air purifier mode.
